Appointment of New Officers
POWERCODE™ BackOffice Software Helps Internet Service Providers Improve Customer Service and Profitability
OREM, Utah - May 23, 2007 - Powercode Systems, LLC, a provider of Web-enabled software tools to help wired and wireless Internet Service Providers (ISPs) better manage their networks, today announced it has acquired the assets of PowerCode, Inc. including PowerNOC®. This acquisition will enable Powercode Systems to access required capital in order to meet the needs of the rapidly growing customer base. Powercode Systems brings additional strength to the management team with experience in the Service Provider industry by appointing a new chairman, chief executive officer, and president.
PowerNOC's history extends back to 1999 when it provided a Utah-based wireless ISP the software tools to help simplify its operations and improve profitability. In 2001, PowerCode, Inc. began selling PowerNOC management tools to network providers across the country. With this acquisition, Powercode Systems, will offer the worldwide customers of PowerNOC new features and functionality for their billing, customer relationship management (CRM), and network management systems.
Powercode Systems has appointed two new officers with extensive experience in the telecommunications and operations system solutions (OSS) industries:
- Martin Frey, Chairman/CEO - Before joining Powercode Systems, Mr. Frey served as the managing director of the Utah Governor's Office of Economic Development, where he developed and oversaw programs designed to create, grow, and recruit Utah businesses. Previously, Frey worked for Cisco Systems for 13 years where he ran a global support organization for Cisco's top service provider customers. Mr. Frey also worked for International Telephone and Telegraph in their defense electronics division.
- John Wright, President - Before joining Powercode Systems, Mr. Wright was the president of Digis (www.digis.net), the largest wireless ISP in Utah. Digis had 12 employees and close to 3,000 customers when he joined. Digis has acquired more than five other WISP's and now has over 14,000 customers and 80 employees. John was one of the early creators of the 3D digital content industry and was founder and CEO of Utah-based Viewpoint Digital in 1988, which was sold to Computer Associates in 1998. Mr. Wright and his team were successful in raising over $15 million (and returning a profit) from Motorola, Intel, and VC's - Kleiner Perkins and Hummer Winblad.
Powercode Systems line of Backoffice software is designed to help customers such as VTX Broadband, Inc. improve all facets of managing their ISP and wireless ISP networks. Based in McAllen, Texas, VTX Broadband provides wireless ISP services to the rural residents of southern Texas who are not served by landline cable and DSL services. VTX provides high speed Internet access, email, and web-design, hosting & co-location, among other services, to its roughly 2,500 residential and business customers.
"We use POWERCODE to monitor our customers' access to the network and can quickly address any issues that arise in real-time," said Peter J. Vasquez, Network Manager, VTX Broadband. "Before implementing POWERCODE, we had to use multiple systems that were not tied to a central customer database, which meant manually pulling reports from one system and comparing them to data generated by the others. POWERCODE ties all the information into one database, which enables us to provide a much higher level of customer service."
